DTN COMMENTS: Light business is being reported this afternoon, with 
Northern dressed sales at $295, generally steady with last week's 
weighted averages. Southern live deals are being marked at $184 to $185, 
mostly $184 steady with last week's weighted averages. Some asking prices 
remain firm around $186 to $187 in the South, and $297-plus in the North. 

Today's slaughter totaled 120,000 head, 1,000 more than last week, but 
4,000 less than a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 13,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 622,000 even with the prior week, but 22,000 
below 2023. Live cattle futures closed modestly to moderately higher, up 
20 to up 55. Feeder issues ended they say mixed, up 37 to off 15. Beef 
cutouts are expected to close lower with moderate to good box movement.
